Importing OpenAir Airspace Files

What is OpenAir?

OpenAir files contain a description of airspace boundaries along with details such as ceiling & floor, airspace class and the airspace name. Naviator 3.7+ supports the ability to import custom airspace via OpenAir airspace files. Pre-made OpenAir files for some countries' airspace can be found on the web sites listed below. If you have a bit of technical know-how and wish to create custom airspace areas for Naviator, the OpenAir format is very simple to understand and it's possible to create an OpenAir file using nothing more than a text editor. Details about the file format are available here: http://www.winpilot.com/UsersGuide/UserAirspace.asp

Re: Importing OpenAir Airspace Files

Great news Mike - do you have a link or some info on how to import the files? The link above seems circular...

Re: Importing OpenAir Airspace Files

I have used this capability to create visible boundaries for local special airspaces like temporary formation training areas and aerobatic boxes.  I found the last site on the list above to be the most useful.

After you build the file and transfer it to some known location on your device (I use the Naviator folder), importing is done through the Plan menu:
Plan -> Custom Data -> Custom Airspace -> Import Data

Re: Importing OpenAir Airspace Files

Thanks aelliott - greatly appreciated! Didn't think to look under 'Plan'. I've just imported the data and it seems to have worked fine.
